WHAT'S ALL THE FUSS ABOUT LOOKING BEAUTIFUL????

Hey friends,

Yes, I cannot TOTALLY stay away from my blog . I know I am a recluse otherwise....but I feel that pent up feelings can sometimes be best expressed virtually. So, today, when I am finally back from my self imposed exile a.k.a break, I am here to talk about issues that bug every person or the other at some point in their lives. (especially girls, but, then guys are no exception either.)

We all love to flip the pages of glossy magazines and most of us wonder: "oh how i wish I had a figure like that model", or  "that's a lovely dress/bag etc." and then put ourselves through the suffering that comes with not having sufficient purchasing power to materialize our wants. Granted, we may have wants and unfulfilled desires, but surely not at the cost of driving ourselves to the point of narcissism or self loathing.
Add to the beauty bandwagon proliferation by media our very own social networking sites that allow the users to upload pics of themselves (in various poses) and go through the pain and mental turmoil that comes inadvertently with not having enough "likes" and appreciative "comments" on their pics.

Hey, who am I to judge?? A nobody practically. Or perhaps one among those hundreds and thousands of people who have driven themselves crazy to the point of narcissism.I am not referring to statistics or data and I won't, simply because I am here to share my views with the readers and not to exhibit my mere accretion of pedantic knowledge.

We are beautiful. Tall or short, thin or fat, fair or dark. And we do NOT need to keep on uploading pics of ourselves to get this point across. Yes, I know you all may say that I am just reiterating the saying "BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP", but no. I am not. I know, on some unconscious level, beauty and physical appearance does matter. But that's that. I know several instances of guys and girls who are beautiful/ handsome but are worth noticing as long as they keep their mouths shut.

So am I telling you not to covet the figure of the girl in the glossy magazine?? Yes, in a way. But being beautiful does not always mean having a "skinny" figure or getting into "skimpy" clothes just to show how "hot" you are. God has made all of us unique. So we should be "hot" and "beautiful" in our own way.

I am used to people complementing me on my skin and hair because overall I am not bad looking. But, I had developed a kind of self loathing towards myself every time I saw myself in the mirror. I always thought a small pimple , or a dimple in the wrong place made me look awful, or that my figure is too voluptuous or my hair not so perfect, my nose too small and so on and so forth. So much so, that I wasted my precious time thinking " why aren't I that beautiful", or "I wish I had that dress, those shoes, that bag etc."
I had turned into a shopaholic and used to get angry when I didn't find the right item. But, I realised and realised it soon that one cannot be everything that one wants. If it were so easy then life would just have been a bed of roses. That said, I realised that it is important to embrace "your kind of beauty" that is exclusively yours. Improvise on it. We are always cribbing about getting "fat" but how many of us take the time to work out?? Just do it. You don't have to hit the gym. Got rough hair? Go get a hair spa or look up the internet for natural, inexpensive solutions. Want to buy a dress that helps you flaunt your curves? Or shoes that complement your never ending legs?? Go shopping. Once in a while it helps to assuage a woman's soul. And please, stop crash dieting, or dieting altogether. I don't do diets because there's simply too much of good food all around me. Most importantly, be happy because that inner glow is sure to show on your face.

Too much of agony aunt talk??? Umm, maybe.....so from tomorrow, I'll get back to the BEAUTY BASICS. CIAO!!!! WILL BRING LOTS OF TIPS AND TRICKS AND INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO HELP YOU GLAMORIZE YOURSELF!!!

A BB CREAM THAT IS TOTALLY OVER HYPED

Yes, this is a continuation of my last post. I had promised to discuss about two BB creams in fact, which are not really worth your money, and one of them is :

POND'S WHITE BEAUTY BB+ CREAM - REVIEW

The other one I don't have at my disposal because I finished it any swore to myself that I would never buy it again.
This BB cream is an inexpensive one, and suddenly I find that other bloggers are writing favorably about this BB cream. But I really don't find any reason to. The packaging is Pink and White (Patent Pond's Packaging) and has a nice smell, but that's just about it. It smells like POND'S COLD CREAM.

It is thick, thicker than usual BB creams. It has an SPF of 30+++.

It claims to reveal your perfect natural look. The writing on the cover says that it works from the outside and inside. This unique skin color matching fairness cream gives you a natural looking instant glow on the outside while working deep on the inside. Here are the swatches:

SUITED FOR:  EVERYDAY USE

PRODUCT FEATURES:

  • INSTANT NATURAL GLOW ON THE OUTSIDE
  • LIGHTENS YOUR SKIN TONE AND SPOTS FROM THE INSIDE
  • EVENS SKIN TONE
  • WITH SPF 30 FOR SUN PROTECTION
  • NO CLOGGING OF PORES
  • LIGHT, NON-OILY TEXTURE
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Use every morning on cleansed skin. It's light texture makes it suitable for everyday use.
  2. smooth cream over entire face and gently spread it in until the colour blends well with your natural skin tone.
  3. retouch as needed throughout the day.
INGREDIENTS: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, ethylexyl, methoxycinnamate and many others.

PRICE: RS.125 FOR 18g but I got it at a discount at Rs. 116. A smaller tube is also available.

WARNING:
  1. Do not stay too long in the sun, even while using a sunscreen product.
  2. In case of any irritation, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.
  3. Store away from direct sunlight and heat.
VERDICT: The BB cream is not light, but quite thick in consistency and though it blends well, it does not work amazingly. I mean if you have spots on your skin, it works okay to conceal your spots, so it's better to first use a concealer and then apply this. It also makes my skin very oily within a short span of time. I would have loved it if it had been more matte in effect . Yes. it adds a glow to your skin but does not make it fairer from within and neither does it do much to reduce dark spots. So. though it is inexpensive, it is not really worth a shot. I will not buy any more BB creams that come for cheap. I'd rather invest in one that gives better results.

WHAT'S THE BUZZ ABOUT BB CREAMS??

Hello girl friends!!! :) :)

Needless to say, the BB CREAMS ARE ALREADY A MUST HAVE IN OUR MAKE UP KIT(make up suitcase in my case!!!) . We all use this gift of the beauty world without really knowing what it means and what it does for our skin. So, today, I am going to discuss about whether we really need BB creams or not.

BB CREAMS: THE ULTIMATE INDISPENSABLE BEAUTY PRODUCT???

THE EVOLUTION OF BB CREAM
BB cream, also known as Blemish Balm cream, was originally formulated in the 1950s by German dermatologist, DR.CHRISTINE SCHRAMMEK, to protect and provide natural light coverage for patient's sensitive skin who had just undergone laser treatments and surgery. Recently, it was introduced in South Korea and Japan and it has been named "the secret of Korean Actresses" for their fair and flawless skin.

"Call a rose by any name and it would smell just as sweet". The BB cream has many names-BLEMISH BALM, BLEMISH BASE, BEAUTY BALM, BEAUTY BENEFIT CREAM, but it has mainly two properties:

  • it works as a moisturiser
  • it is a concealer too!!!
It claims to give all in one benefits of a primer, foundation, concealer etc. So, you can have so many benefits for the price of one!! Plus, they come within an affordable range and can be used for an instant shine.

BEFORE YOU MAKE THE PURCHASE: as with any other cream or foundation, check your skin type-dry, oily or combination and make the purchase accordingly. Ask the shop assistant for their recommendations. Specify your skin type, your possible skin problems and your budget.
Apply a bit of the cream onto your face or your neck and blend it slowly. See how it blends and whether your skin shows any signs of irritation immediately. Also check if you get that perfect "glow" or if it is just making your skin oily. Atlest, take your time while at the counter and you won't be sorry.
These creams are perfumed, so check if you are okay with the scent.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE A BB CREAM?
The advantages are too many!!! Simply put, start using a BB cream. Use it for a month or so like any regular beauty product.  Then stop using it altogether for a few days. You will see that once your skin has adapted to the BB Cream, you'll want a flawless finish too and won't settle for any less!!
  • IT comes in a tube and is travel friendly. Just pop it in your bag and you are good to go!!
  • available in cream form or stick -you get to choose
  • you don't need a foundation if you use this
  • it gives  a natural finish, closest to your natural skin tone plus a glow, so it won't make you look as if you have applied oodles of make up. :P
  • on-the -spot shine guaranteed!
  • has higher SPF than normal fairness creams
  • has properties of moisturiser and glycerin that keep your skin moisturised
  • has anti-ageing properties, so wrinkles will be at bay
  • gives even skin tone
  • has silicone based ingredients that give a foundation like finish
ANY MINUS POINTS???
  • CANNOT MATCH UP TO THE SMOOTHY FINISH OF A FOUNDATION
  • VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND ONES THAT SUIT YOUR SKIN TONE AS THEY ARE AVAILABLE IN ONLY A FEW SHADES
  • SOME BB CREAMS DO NOT PROVIDE A LASTING COVERAGE AND YOUR SKIN ENDS UP LOOKING GREASY
  • IF YOU HAVE TOO MANY DARK SPOTS, A CONCEALER WILL WORK BETTER ON YOUR SKIN
VERDICT: I do not rule out the huge impact made by BB creams on our Beauty regime, but find one which works best for you. Spend a little more if you want a better BB cream . Inexpensive ones are not really that good. In my next post, I am going to write about two BB creams that you can easily skip buying.
Plus, these are not fairness creams. They only provide you round-the -clock shine. Also with the advent of CC creams and DD creams too, you not only need to update your beauty lingo but also revamp your make-up case.:) :)

LOOK OF THE DAY 9# THE THALAIVA TRIBUTE!!!

HELLOOOOOO!!! I am back with a bang!! I had been lying low for no specific reason actually. Spiritual contemplation??? Nah......I am way too practical (and lazy) for that......

So the latest buzz is the "CHENNAI EXPRESS" and I am sure that most of you have already seen it as well. I am not so lucky, so I will be going tomorrow on a movie date!!1 Today, when I read the newspapers and found out that CHENNAI EXPRESS has already grossed 100 crores, and has created a new record, my joy knew no bounds. I am, and will always be a great fan of SRK. So, I thought that  while I gear up for tomorrow, why not do a look of the day with the amazing piece of garment that has created waves in the fashion world: LUNGI!!!!

This was done within the confines of my house as I wouldn't dare to venture out in this look. You have to have a devil-may-care attitude for carrying off this look in public. Plus, I am really fascinated by nose rings. No, I do not have my nose pierced and have no intention of getting it done, but, I like to slip on false nose rings for fun.

For this look, I did not have a lungi at home, so, I rushed to my grandmother for help. Besides clicking amazing pictures, she always has solutions to my problems. So, she took out her white saree with a lovely golden border which  I tied it around my waist as a lungi. Obviously after folding it. And it looks convenient!!! I wore my favorite chequered t-shirt from BARE DENIM which fits like a dream and the contrast is amazing.

The spirit of carrying any look with elan is the correct make-up and accesories. I used minimal make-up only a kohl from LAKME ABSOLUTE to define my eyes and a red lipstick from LOTUS. I used my "rose-tinted" shades, aviators to be exact, which became a rage after "DABANGG" and wore a maharashtrian nose ring which i shopped from the flea markets in GARIAHAT.

To pul off this look, you need lots and lots of attitude and there you go!!! All tapori style and hatke!! :):)

EVAFLOR WHISKY SILVER -PARFUM FOR MEN (REVIEW)

Guys usually ask me about tips on how to look great and get girls swooning. I have a certain perception in mind: If you want to look great, you must smell great too. No girl, ok, nobody ever liked anybody with bad body odor!!!
Jokes apart,I asked the men in my life, don't get me wrong, (my dad, my brother some odd relatives and friends), what do they keep in mind while selecting that "perfume" of their dreams. These are some of the prompt answers that I got( I jot them down as points)
  • LONG-LASTING(this tops the list)
  • Not too strong and overpowering
  • Skin friendly (It's only by trial and error)
  • not sticky
  • all this for a good price!!!
Another guy friend of mine was only too happy to have found this lovely perfume he purchased from SOUTH CITY MALL, KOLKATA. Check out the review to find out for what it's worth:

  1. NAME: Evaflor WHISKY SILVER
  2. MADE IN: FRANCE
  3. AVAILABLE AS: DEODORANTS AS WELL AS PERFUMES
  4. PRICE: The deo is priced at Rs. 250 and the perfume comes for Rs. 600
  5. SUITABLE FOR: (as suggested by my friend) : DAY WEAR, FORMAL OCCASIONS
  6. INGREDIENTS: ALCOL DENAT, AQUA, PARFUM,ALPHA ISOMETHYL IONONE,BENZENE SALICYLATE,BUTYL PHENYL,METHYL PROPIONAL, CITRAL, CITRONELOL, EUGENOL, GERANIOL, LIMONENE, LINALOOL

  1. UPPER NOTE: FLOWERY AND LIME
  2. BASE NOTE: WOODY LIME

I can't make you smell the perfume via post, but can definitely give you an idea that it does smell sophisticated and according to my friend,"is for sporty men". You needn't worry about getting all sweaty as it is long -lasting, for about 12 hrs. You can wear it to work or a coffee date. My firned wore it on a day date, and the girl couldn't stop admiring the smell, so he says. :) :) (Dude, I am happy for you!!!)
He also adds that it is a total confidence booster. "GIRLS WILL GET FLOORED", he says. Wheteher he's making big claims or not , it's for you guys to find out. But when he sent me the pics, I LIKED THE LOOK -silver and black carton AND A NICE SIMPLE, NO-NONSENSE LOOK BOTTLE inside. Plus, if you are apprehensive of whether this will work for you or not,you can always start with the deo. My friend had first tried out the deo and then moving onto the perfume was no herculean task for him.

But he thoroughly does not recommend this for a party at night. He is keeping the reason to himself, which i'll have to acquire from him by all means known to mankind.:P
Plus I can vouchsafe that since this friend of mine has recommended this perfume, it really must be good, not because he's my friend, but because he DOES HAVE an awesome collection of perfumes.
And yes, this perfume is pretty cheap. But it does deliver. I once went all generous and thought of gifting somebody a limited edition perfume that made a big hole in my pocket. :) :P

Laters, and take care!!! <3 <3

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE LIPSTICKS UNDER RS.350!!!

Yes, I love my lips. I love to stash on lipsticks too!! I buy mostly from MAYBELLINE and do not stick to any particular shade. I am always open to experimenting. On a normal day you can spot me without make up but not without a lipstick. But finding the correct shade and getting it at a reasonably low price is an ordeal. Not anymore. I have some suggestions, just out of my lipstick box (YES I OWN A BOX FULL OF LIPSTICKS): P

1. ORIFLAME CATWALK RED: When you hear the word "catwalk" the first thing that pops into your head is the red carpet. A rich satin smooth, velvety red that can make all your dreams come true and help you flaunt your luscious lips. But this lipstick shade is quite the opposite. Yes it does have that satin smooth feel and orangish undertone that complements my skin so well, but it's for a day wear and not for the party. It has triple core moisturizer which i absolutely adore and that is so generic to all the ORIFLAME LIPSTICKS. But the color is a tad bit too subtle and like any other red tinted lip balm. You'll have to apply it two to three times to get the red that you almost wanted. It could have been a shade deeper to help people notice the paleness of people with very fair skin. However, the great thing about this lipstick is that it will suit both dark and fair skin tones. You can adjust the shade according to your skin tone by just applying two or three coats or just coat only. I bought it on offer for 299 bucks only and i also can't forget to mention about the lovely cover. To tell you the truth, its the cover that got me hooked to it!! ;)

2. MAYBELLINE JEWELS BY COLORSENSATIONAL 994 FUCHSIA CRYSTAL:
This party season is not all about LBDS AND DARK RED LIPSTICK. Throw in some Fuchsia and see how well it works for your skin. It's a color that can be worn both in summer and in winter. The correct shade. The correct texture. All OK!!!!! DEEP RICH color that's totally drool worthy. PRICE:RS.330

3. LOTUS HERBALS FLORAL STAY RED ROVER 410: A thin stick with a lovely peach cover. Open it to reveal the red you've always wanted. Works great on fair skin tones.I wear it for most of my dance shows and on stage it looks great.

I recently wore it for a marriage ceremony and paired it with a red saree. I show you a pic here:

I have been using this for over two years and though I have forgotten its actual price it's surely to be somewhere within 275 and 350 bucks.

Okay i gotta go for now. And I will keep you all updated!!!!

PUMA ECO ORTHOLITE-REVIEW (FOR GUYS!!!) :)

Hello after a long long time!!! Sorry I couldn't post for a while now. But then again I am happy to be back and brimming with ideas. Today's post is for guys so cheer up!!!

I have this friend of mine who has been kind enough to send me pics of shoes he's recently bought. And he's super happy about owning them. :) : ) So I thought why not write a review??

When I the shoes one thing that instantly caught my eye was the color. Whoever said that boys' shoes have to be boring and monotone?? The colour combination ticks all the right fashion boxes. Blue with a pop of orange. You guys must be thinking that it makes for a ridiculous combination, but you'll have to see to believe. Just the correct shade of electric blue set off by a preppy orange.

He bought it from the PUMA outlet at MANI SQUARE MALL, KOLKATA for about 2900 bucks. Expensive?? Yes. But it was 2900 bucks AFTER discount and he's not complaining. ;)

The shoes are light , bright easy to maintain and has no spikes on the backside but good and firm grip . The outer layer is made of parachute material and you can easily wipe off dirt and grime with a cloth.

Going by the look of the shoes, you can use it for casual wear or for a workout. Throw in a pair of your favorite jeans and tee and this makes for a relaxed look for hangout with friends, quips my friend. You can even pair it with shorts for a workout.

He's been nice to even send me pics of what you guys could probably pair the shoes with :)  which I show here:

Now let me go through the pros and cons of these shoes before I wrap up my post:

PROS:
  • Lightweight
  • Super comfortable (so says my friend)
  • waterproof
  • bright color
  • firm grip
  • can be used for sports as well as casual wear
CONS:
  • My friend is really unsure about the longevity, but if it's PUMA, it's got to be good.
  • Expensive. But then we're talking about branded shoes here :)
Bye for now will be back with a new post soon!!! Take care!!! :) :) :)

THE BODY SHOP RAIN FOREST COCONUT HAIR OIL

This is my second ever item from THE BODY SHOP and I am totally loving it!!! I should probably start using more healthcare products as opposed to cosmetics . I am a huge fan of color cosmetics and keep on hoarding my makeup suitcase (yes suitcase) with all sorts of lipsticks and eye shadows that are on offer. I generally use natural ingredients for my hair and skin, but as the days go by, life starts getting busier and busier. So when I came across this oil, I thought of trying it.

NAME: THE BODY SHOP RAIN FOREST COCONUT HAIR OIL

PRICE: RS. 645

QUANTITY:200 ML

SUITABLE FOR: ALL HAIR TYPES

INGREDIENTS: With organic Pracaxi oil and community fair trade organic virgin coconut oil. NO SILICONES AND NO COLOURANTS.

PACKAGING: Simple, transparent bottle with flip cap for pouring out the oil easily. Not much quantity is required even on very long hair. Th oil is a lovely golden color and has a sweet smell . Its not really very sticky too. Very good for instant application like, when you need to deeply condition your hair and you have only about thirty minutes to oil your hair and shampoo it afterward.

THE BODY SHOP claims that with regular use this luxurious, nourishing oil leaves hair feeling stronger, smoother and without drying out the scalp. Enriched with organic pracaxi oil and Community Fair trade organic virgin coconut oil , 99% of its ingredients are of natural origin.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Do not heat oil. If required, warm oil in hands before use. I am super lazy, so I just apply it directly on my scalp and massage it nicely with my fingers.

MY COMMENTS AFTER USING THIS PRODUCT: Lovely oil. Its every bit worth the pocket pinch. Plus, you will really not need to use it in huge amounts so it will easily last for more than two months (three
 days a week).
It smell so sweet and really relaxes your mind after a tired day. It really makes hair super soft, shiny and keeps hair silky straight( after shampooing, and I have straight hair).
I have sensitive skin, and it did not irritate my scalp so it can be safely used on people with sensitive skin, and I am sure this works wonders for a  dry scalp.

PROS:
  • looks nice
  • smells nicer
  • works the best :) :)
  • not required in huge quantities
  • does not require heating, so a must but for lazy people
  • gives super duper hair
CONS: Cannot find anything wrong with this product.

WILL BUY THIS AGAIN !!!! :) :)

LOOK OF THE DAY 8#

Hey friends I am back!!

Most of you were wondering whether I had vanished into the thin air. But I had not!!!! I am back with my new look of the day and I just can't stop raving about this look!!! It's a simple day-out look that can be done in just 15 minutes stat!!!! And it's super comfortable:) :)

Summers are usually very sunny and hot in Kolkata and I usually don't wear sleeveless shirts in the day, but today was an exception. I was just feeling like breaking my own rules. Also, black during the day sounds weird, but weird is me!!!

I had earlier written about my LEE COOPER SHIRT in a post. I just felt like wearing it again and so I paired it with my denim skinny fits. <3 them!!!!

I wore simple waterproof silver slippers from BATA as the rains are very unpredictable and you possibly cannot walk a mile in high heels on the streets of Kolkata!! :P :P

Again no makeup, only lip balm (MAYBELLINE BABY LIPS CHERRY CRUSH) that gives a hint of red and keeps my lips moisturized day long. I love to accentuate my eyes (and every girl should!!) and so I opted for a smokey eye look with my favorite kohl LAKME ABSOLUTE KOHL SUPREME (RS.675. i WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO DO A SIMPLE DAY WEAR SMOKEY EYE SOON.)

And yes, the whole look became very black and monotone so I took out my lovely colorful waterproof bag which I usually don't dare to take out often(it's too bright!!) But this bag just seems to reflect my mood today!! Happy and energetic.

Why do I forget about my accessories??? Do you notice my chandelier earrings??? They are a lovely teal color with golden filigree work and cost about 290 bucks. I have purchased them only recently from LATIN QUARTERS, SOUTH CITY MALL. :)

P.S: I have left my hair open which is a rarity.( Make sure that your hair is thoroughly nourished with a lot of serum and hairspray to avoid flyaways.)
Last but not the least, I have worn my cute wala smile which is also a rarity. :P :P ( I should really smile more.)

COLOR: IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE RICH, DARK MOLTEN CHOCOLATE .(YUMMY!!)

LOOK OF THE DAY 7#

I went out only recently, probably two days back and I felt like dressing up a bit. But I wanted to keep the look "sexy pretty"  or "cute" type so I thought of wearing my favorite black floral printed dress in a different way. I chose the same dress with which I had styled the Deepika Padukone look. Check out:

Remember my blog post on DEEPIKA PADUKONE'S YEH JAWANI HAI DEEWANI PREPPY NERDY LOOK?? Yes, the very same dress.
I wore pink colored or rather fuchsia pink colored stocking to go with the dress. If you don't want to show your legs, this is a perfect idea to pair up your dress!!

I have already mentioned that I have issues with wearing half-sleeved dress. I wear them seldom. Plus, you also have the risk of getting tanned. So, I paired it up with a cute peek-a-boo shrug in mauve that goes perfectly with the black and pink combination. See, I didn't go matching-matching but I complemented the colors. That way it looks effortlessly stylish. The best thing about the shrug is that it has a lace back detailing.(Think sexy!!!) This gives the whole look a bit of pizzazz. You will find a whole lot of these variety of tops and shrugs in the market nowadays. Mauve, blacks and royal blues are your best bet as they go with almost every other color.

As usual, there will always be a bit of a catch. This time it was the boots I had worn earlier in another look. They give you a bit of height and make the whole look "sexy pretty" or even "rocker chic". Plus I have styled my look with a simple lovely teal sling bag and  a simple neck pendant with a letter "S" on it as my name begins with an "S". No earrings and I absolutely don't like makeup!! I have just put on some kohl and a tinted lip balm. They are great!!! I don't like styling my hair with too many accessories and so I just tied my hair in a simple pony-tail I just love my fringes!! They make me look younger.:) :)

So that's that!!! Bye for now!!! Keep waiting for more!!!

TWO LATEST TRENDS THIS SEASON THAT I AM DYING TO TRY OUT!!!

Hey friends!! I have been away for a long time. Sorry!!! But I thought I'd share with you what new things I want to add to my closet. These two trends are a rage this season. They're spreading like wild fire!!!
Check them out:
1.THE HIGH LOW TREND: The LBD is so yesterday!!1 The high low trend is here to stay!!!! Jokes apart, I know you all are clueless about this, but believe me, this trend is really catching on. Miranda Kerr rocks this look with such ease!! You could too!!! I will soon go shopping and I hope to find a nice high low dress. Well, it's nothing but a dress with an asymmetrical hem line that can be worn at the front or at the side. Either way, it's a great way to show your legs (you'd better tone them up!!) without giving much away. ;)
It's fun, flirty and feminine. You can even think of high low trend skirts, and top!! Pair these dresses and skirts with cage booties or gladiator heels for an ultra glam look. For a day out, pair them with flats for that summery feel. :) I am definitely shopping!!!

2.PRINTED PANTS: They're here, there, everywhere!!!! The newspapers and fashion magazines are full of them!! I must buy them soon. I will opt for skinny fits though. They come in a variety of size and fit, from wide leg palazzo pants to skinny fits and trousers. You can pair a wide-legged printed pants with a solid camisole and if you opt for skinny fit, think loose flowy or off-shoulder tops. The baggier, the better!!! Trousers can be worn for a relaxed look, But I do not really like floral print skinnies because they look more like pajamas.:P Think animal print!! To go rocker-chic, opt for an animal print skinny fit, a camisole and throw in a nice custom-fit black jacket , wear cage booties and carry an oversized clutch. ( They are another big trend this season!!!)

Omg, I must go shopping soon. Bye and take care!!!

LOOK OF THE DAY 6#

I had told you in my last post that I had somewhere to go. Nothing too great though. I just went to relax at a nearby mall with my parents and wasn't feeling like dressing up too much. But, I always want to look stylish. I have issues with looking shabby, please!!! So, I dressed up in something cool, chic and super comfy!!!!

I fished out a black LEE COOPER shirt top from my messy wardrobe. Now, what to wear it with? I thought to myself. Usually I would have worn it with a jeans or colored pants(have not tried mini skirts yet :P), but I ALWAYS WANT TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX. So, I thought of pairing it with my royal blue PALAZZO PANTS. Remember, I had told you that I would do a post on it??? :)

The palazzo pants are the "it" thing this season, though it hasn't caught up much with the people here as yet.
But I did find another two girls wearing palazzo pants at the mall and one was wearing the exact color I was wearing!!! So you see, royal blue is a pretty much wanted color. Its solid, soft and super comfy and makes you look elegant. I'm sure you'll turn a few heads when you wear this color. Another color you could opt for is MUSTARD. It is so so this season!!!

So, the black and blue combination are a super hit, and I paired it with my classic black sling bag. It does not have much utility, though as it can hold very few items.

No makeup. I applied some kohl(my patent look) and a red lipstick (MAYBELLINE GLAMOROUS RED). But i think I should opt for a brighter color of red. No earrings, no watch, no neck piece or bracelets. I only wore my usual two rings on one hand. (Just can't get enough!!!)

Now comes the bomb!!! So far so good, but what is the catch??? It's in the accessories, silly!!! I wore bright pink shoes which have polka dotted heels. The reason is very simple: IT MAKES THE WHOLE LOOK POP. And, I love these shoes as they are my first ever pair of heels. <3 <3
I also wore a black embellished belt to attract attention to my pretty waist :P But, jokes apart, it does give the whole look a chic-factor.
So, today's lesson??? Break the rules, think out of the box and even the simplest of dresses can look absolutely stunning!!!

SOME HOME-MADE HAIR CARE RECIPES I FOLLOW

Today is a Sunday. Needless to say, everyone of you will be winding up after a long weeks din and bustle. Some of you might have planned to go out, some of you might have planned to cook something delicious whereas some of you must have planned to watch a movie or clean your house. But, do you ever take out time to pamper yourself??? NO?? Then why do you keep complaining that your hair is falling and your skin  is looking lack luster?? Read on about some of my hair care tips which I follow, at least once a week( when I really do not get much time) to get long, black, shiny hair:

  1. I oil my hair twice a week at least. I use a mixture of coconut, almond, castor oil (equal amounts) and I heat it. I add some fenugreek seeds(methi seeds) to it and some lime juice to combat dandruff and hairfall. Then using my finger tips, I massage the oil lightly onto my scalp and hair. Do not scratch your scalp with your nails, please.
  2. If you cannot keep oil on your hair for two three hours or overnight, then, try using the turban therapy. It is actually very easy. Oil your hair well, and take a thin cloth and soak it in luke warm water. Apply this damp cloth(after squeezing the excess water) onto your head and cover your head like a turban. Do this three to four times. This will give you the benefit of overnight hair oiling.
  3. Deeply nourish and condition your hair at least once a week. Every Sunday, I apply a mixture of an egg, some dahi, some lime juice , honey and almond/olive oil to my hair and keep it for twenty minutes. Then I wash it off with a mild shampoo. Be sure to wash your hair well!!!
  4. If you have short hair , use one egg and for long hair you can use two or three. I use only one egg for the simple reason that my hair is already very silky, and this makes your hair silky. (Plus , I am very very lazy :P)
  5. If you have problems with egg, then apply a banana mask instead. Use one whole ripe banana in the mask and mash it well. Use the same ingredients as above. The proportions may vary depending on the length of your hair.
  6. Apply curd on your hair( from root to tip) and keep this for an hour before washing it off with a mild shampoo. This will make your hair squeaky clean and also deeply nourish it.
  7. You can also make  a honey and milk mask. Take half a cup of raw milk, add two three tbsp s of honey to it. Heat it lightly and slowly apply this onto your hair using a hair brush. Keep it on for fifteen to twenty minutes. Wash it off and follow it with a good shampoo.

A real picture of my real hair, no color, no straighteners!!!!!
It is up to you to choose which one of the above tips or two three tips you can follow. It is applicable for girls as well as boys. Do it religiously and after a few months you'll start seeing the results!!!
Okay got to go because I have to get ready!! More in my next post!!!

WHAT TO EAT AND WHAT TO AVOID WHEN YOU GO OUT

I am sure most of you are foodies like me. For those who are not, what a pity!! Kolkata has one of the best street foods in the country. I don't really get the chance to hog on street food whenever I go out, but I do indulge in BINGE EATING. And it does not only mean eating chocolates ans ice creams. Most of the time I have phuchkas and that too not less than 30-40 phuchkas on an average!!! But then, most of the girls are diet conscious and figure conscious. So what should you eat and drink when you go out?? Here are some pointers:

  • Always remember: whatever passes through your lips, gets added on your hips. So eat, and eat wisely.
  • You may feel very hungry after watching a movie or shopping. Do not hog on egg/ chicken/ paneer rolls. I know they are delicious, but opt for steamed momos instead.
  • Sipping on cold drinks mean sipping on calories. Try having popcorn instead when you go to watch a movie.
  • While you want to eat sandwich, opt for a brown bread sandwich rather than a white bread sandwich. This is a healthier option and no extra cheese and mayonnaise, please!
  • If you want to drink something to quench your thirst, your best option will be coconut water. If you can drink fresh coconut water daily, you will have gorgeous skin!!!
  • Opt for iced teas rather than cold drinks and cold coffees
  • DIET COKE is not really diet coke, so please avoid that as drinking it will only make you want to binge.
  • chocolates on an empty stomach are a no-no
  • Opt for a whole fruit instead of fruit juice for the simple reason that real fruit has more vitamins, minerals and fibres.
  • opt for a wholesome lunch that has lots of vegetables and proteins. Healthy food need not always be yucky!!!
  • Always include a green salad with your lunch!!!!!

SUNSILK KERATINOLOGY HEAT PROTECTOR SPRAY

Hey girls!! I am sure you all love to try out new hairstyles like   perming, straightening etc. etc. I am sure you all are aware of the hazards of regularly blow drying your hair or using hair straighteners and curlers. However, it doesn't hurt to use them once in a while, like once every two or three months. For those girls who regularly use straighteners and heat curlers, I have a lovely product, that can minimize the hair damage!!!!

SUNSILK KERATINOLOGY ADVANCED RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM HEAT PROTECTOR SPRAY

This is yet another revolutionary product from the house of SUNSILK. I have been using this for six months now and this is my first bottle as I do not really curl or straighten my hair. I came across this product in the departmental store and I bought this at a discounted price, but the actual price is RS.400 for 180 ml.

WHY IS THIS PRODUCT SPECIAL???
This heat protector spray is an ANTI FRIZZ SPRAY with UV FILTER. This helps prevent breakage and frizz as you style for a professional look. Salon looks can fade quickly and to sustain them, hair needs to be deeply nourished. Advanced formulations with KERATIN MICRO TECHNOLOGY reconstruct the hair surface while micro nutrients deeply penetrate into the hair cortex to deeply nourish the hair.

HOW TO USE THE PRODUCT???
Use it daily to protect hair against the damage caused by hair styling. Apply to dry or damp hair before heat styling. For optimum results, use the SUNSILK KERATINOLOGY ADVANCED RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM RANGE.

PACKAGING???
It is a lovely golden colored bottle with a black spray cap which is useful for easy application. The heat protector is a watery liquid with a lovely smell which I spray onto my hair strands after dividing it into sections and then, I smoothen the hair with my hands for distributing the spray evenly and then I use the heat curler/ straightener.

PROS:
It is an awesome product that really does protect your hair. There was a time when I would regularly straighten my hair . But my hair never became frizzy because of this life saving, sorry, HAIR-SAVING product!! :) It can also be used as a serum for detangling hair, and you can even comfortably go out in the open after applying this product as this will protect your hair from the harmful UV rays of the sun. So it is like SUNSCREEN FOR THE HAIR. Plus, it has a lovely smell too!!!

CONS:
The only con of this product is that too much application of this product tends to weigh down your hair and make it look sticky. So, try to apply this product only on the length and tips of your hair and not on your scalp.

HAPPY HAIR STYLING!!! <3 TO ALL

LOOK OF THE DAY 5# DEEPIKA PADUKONE INSPIRED PREPPY NERDY LOOK FROM YEH JAWANI HAI DEEWANI!!!!

Helloooooooooo my bespectacled beauties!!!! Don't you think that you are hiding behind those nerdy glasses? Haven't you always wanted to take them off and dress pretty and amaze people?? I bet you have.

But I am going to recreate a look that will not only make you look and feel pretty, but will also be perfect for a coffee date with your special guy!!! It is cute, nerdy , preppy and inspired by DEEPIKA PADUKONE from YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI!!!!

You do not have to invest too much to recreate this look. I liked this look so much because it is easily do-able, needs no makeup or accessories and can be worn for college and is perfect for girls who don't give too much time for dressing up!!!!

You will need:

  • 15 minutes of your precious schedule
  • any summer short day dress (preferably one with floral or girly prints)
  • a cute hairband or a sleek simple one will do
  • a cross-body sling bag
  • nerdy spectacles (i wear specs :) :) )
  • lipgloss (i have used Maybelline Baby Lips)
  • ballerina flats or chappals
The day dress keeps the look fresh and girly. I have chosen a black floral printed dress without much detailing....you can choose from various shades of pinks, whites, blues, yellow to add to that summery feel.
For this look you'll need to straighten your hair and if you don't have straight hair, you can flat iron your curls.  Create some volume at the crown by teasing your head and finish your look by wearing a pretty hairband. I have use a stone studded sleek hairband. You can even tie up your hair in a low pony-tail. The idea is to create a non-messy look.

Do not apply any make up...no kohl, no mascara, no lipstick.Apply some gloss and of course, wear your nerdy frames as the look will be incomplete otherwise. Carry a cross-body sling because a college girl always has lots to carry!! And don't forget your ballerina flats. The brighter, the better. I am lucky I already had one pair or perky pink ballerinas from BATA to go with this look.

You can keep you hair open and can team up your dress with a denim shirt too. The basic mantra of this look is to GO NATURAL.  Happy recreating!!!!!:) :)
